- Free public hymn singing festivals are being hosted in Berkeley July 13-17 by The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada at its annual Conference, the first ever to be held in Northern California.
The theme of this year’s Conference is Congregational Song and the Arts. Click here for flyer.
The schedule/location of the 7:30 P.M. free public hymn festivals is as follows:
- California Hymn Writers – July 13,
First Church of Christ, Scientist
- Let Every Instrument Be Tuned for Praise – Hymns with Instruments – July 14, First Congregational Church.
- The Gift of African American Sacred Song – July 15, First Presbyterian Church
- Hispanic Hymns & Liturgical Music – July 16, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church
The singing at these public hymn festivals is a phenomenal experience. The festivals begin at 7:30 PM, but there is generally a full house, so get there early to be sure of a seat. This is an opportunity to experience incredible hymn singing in a whole new dimension. *The Conference opens with a free organ concert at 4 PM on Sunday afternoon, July 13, at First Congregational Church.
There is more information about both the Conference and The Hymn Society at its website, www.TheHymnSociety.org.
This is the Page that will list all upcoming events that we know of.
If your church is having an event and you would like the others to know about it, please email the Websteward (at websteward@bayassociation.org) and she will post your event.
